Inspired by Food

Okay, so here is my first food blog. I thought I'd share this, mostly because I'm inspired by the actual art of cooking something good, and also from reading recent blogs about a friend's food and cooking adventures. So, here we go.

Last weekend we were having a craving for seafood of some sort, and the long-standing joke in our house, whenever I ask Rick what he would like for dinner, the answer is either A) nothing, or B) Lobster Thermidor.

So on my quest to find a great Lobster Thermidor recipe, my sister Linda (who is a great cook BTW) and I decided to sidetrack to making crab cakes. We recently visited Morton's Steakhouse (for my mom's 80th birthday) and had their crab cake appetizer. They were awesome, so it became our quest to find the Morton crab cake recipe.
Needless to say, they turned out GREAT, everyone devoured them (we made 12 of them!) and it was a complete success. I was so inspired after the accomplishment I got my camera and took a few pictures - here is the final entree, just before serving! We replicated their famous mayo/mustard sauce - YUM!

Of course, you can't serve crab cakes and nothing else so we prepared some Bruchetta, and some Broiled Asparagus with Parmesan Cheese for side dishes.

Bon Appetit!
